Why should Modi contest from two seats?

Every other party asking this question these days. Most probably the cadres of his own party might have the same question in their minds. Let’s check.

If Modi wants to win safely he can select one of the BJP bastions in Gujarat like East Ahmedabad or Vadodhara. Even the strongest opponent will agree his victory before elections. But Modi does not want to get a Gujarat leader label on him. He wants to emerge as a national leader. The easiest way is contesting from Uthar Pradesh. There are some strong holds in UP for BJP but none of them are sure bets. BJP manages to win in UP only because of the split of votes caused by the multi angular fights. When Modi is the candidate a candidate supported by multiple parties may emerge and challenge his easy walk over. Let’s have a look at the history of Varanasi.

We are in an era of woman empowerment. That  does not mean that women are empowered. There are successful women, may be more number than the past decades that is not enough to claim empowerment of woman.

International women’s day is celebrated from 1977 as an initiative of the United Nations. It is nice to have a day to remember and respect a class but it should not be limited to one day. The day should be a reminder of responsibilities of the society than a day to showoff.

AAP after Delhi

Delhi Poll 2013

The assembly elections 2013 finished without much surprises except the emergence of AAP as a power in Delhi. The baby AAP managed to finish as the second largest party immediately after the BJP.

The formation of a government is still a question without answer in Delhi till now. Both BJP and the Congress offered support for AAP to form a government and AAP is still in thinking mode about the offers.

Many people interpreted the victory of AAP as emergence of the middle class as a force to replace the conventional political system. AAP came up with a middle class friendly manifesto and it managed to earn huge backing in the urban crowd of Delhi though some of their claims are looking extremely impossible due to legal and other reasons. The emergence of AAP shall be attributed to the reality of emergence of the middle class as a united force. It may cause serious troubles  to the minority appraisal  and Hinduthwa based strategies of different political parties. Even the left parties lost their base in the emergence of AAP. The already insignificant left may be thrown out of the political map of India in no time if the Delhi model is prevailing in the coming days.
